The concert tonight was brilliant! Esp Richard Strauss' Ein Heldenleben ("A Hero's Life"). I enjoyed the whole 40 mins of this work! Absolutely brilliant composition and the orchestra did the composer proud. Every single mood of the piece was very clearly brought out to us listeners, we didn't have to crack out brains to guess what the composer was trying to portray. I was totally drawn to the music, it was like being in a storybook going through different scenes. All the anticipations and excitement... wah! It was awesome! The work was just so dramatic, further more we were sitting in the 4th row from the font, the music just seemed to be hitting you straight at the face. The impact was so great that you just literally start to imagine things. haha... at least i did. It was brilliant! Wonderful wonderful performance! Will be getting the recording real soon, but I guess the impact will not be as good as the live performace. Woah... it just left me smiling the whole night. hehe... wanted to give the orchestra a standing ovation, but haha was glad i did not... saw so many familiar ppl around and lecturers. so pai sei if i stood up.
