Went for Singapore Bienalle on Thursday immediately after school. Had to miss contact time and Mr. ong was really nice to excuse us. Went with Geraldine and did not have a clue on what i was suppose to be on.
We had a really great guide by the name of... hmmm... i forgot. He was really eloquent and explained the art works really well. We even got to listen to a couple of eerie stories which was really scary. I am really fascinated by the works. All of them to me is interesting haha... the artists themselves are really talented.
Here are the pics for the Kid's Bienalle which is held at the City Hall. Just look at the adorable paintings of people from the different occupations. Kawaii isn't it?? There was a F1 driver and below you can see army by and hmmm what's that in blue??
This is one of my fav of the day. The painters who pained this wondered wat they were painting, esp when they were painting the little details at the end. However once they take a step back, they will see this incredible picture. It fills the entire hall on the second level. You'll have to stand at the right spot to be able to see the entire picture in straight lines.
This is beautiful, you'll have to see it to see the vast scale of it. Below is only one of the many many many flowers that were carved out. From the front, you'll see the many colors, however, when you look at them from the back, they are actually all black. ooo not a single drop of color.
The floating book. This book is floating in a tank filled with water. One thing special about is is that it will never sink to the bottom of the tank. The pressure of water is constantly adjusted and there's a pump keeping the book from sinking. The book is actually a world famous literature (which i forgot which one is it). What is the artist trying to get at actually?
This is an amazing work by a Singaporean artist. She spent a month on this 40 piece work that had to be assembled together. This is not fabric, it is created using acrylic paint. What an expensive work. The texture is just amazing.
I am so glad to be given this chance to attend this art exhibition. Though i am not an art teacher, but i really see the side of the contemporary visual arts and it raised my awareness of trip.
